Description
A 17th Century Flemish Renaissance Coffer. The rectangular top with moulded edge enclosing a lidded till to one end of the interior. The facade richly carved with a guilloche band above the bulge frieze of foliate motifs & interlaced strapwork, a fine relief carved allegorical panel depicting ‘Abraham’s Sacrifice’ to the centre flanked by foliate carved baluster pilasters. The sides ornamented with daisy wheel entwined in guilloche bands above a heavily moulded base on stile feet, 33½” (85 cm) high, 54” (137 cm) wide, 25” (64 cm) deep.
