Description
A 19th Century Carved Walnut Sgabello. The pierced back carved with a gaping Green-man face mask to the centre flanked by female figures below a gadrooned cresting rail surmounted by a pair of reclining putti holding manuscripts either side of a foliate crest. The shaped plank seat with carved embellishments raised on a silhouette cut rear plank support and a pierced, relief carved front supports with cherubic caryatid flanked by griffins standing on voluted scroll feet, 47½” (120 cm) high, 19” (48 cm) wide.
