A Fine 16th Century Carved Oak Court Cupboard of Canted Form. The cupboard having a central panel door flanked by angled side panels painted with simulated marquetry and set in chip-carved guilloche surrounds, with interlined C-scrolled trefoils and gadrooning adorning the framework. The dentil moulded top above a frieze of daisy wheels on an undulating stem enriched with punchwork and supported on carved figural posts either side. The base section incorporating a gadrooned bulge-front frieze drawer with a carved Green-man face mask issuing foliage to the centre, raised on bold cup & cover posts leading down to a base shelf above a carved base rail of undulating flowers reflecting the top, 50¾” (129 cm) in height, 47” (119 cm) wide, 14½” (37 cm) deep.
