Description
A Good Pair of Late 17th/Early 18th Century Joined Oak Back Stools. Each having a dome topped cresting rail carved with a guilloche band of entwined flower head roundels above an arch-topped palmate carved fielded back panel in a guilloche frame flanked by chip-carved uprights and surmounted by unusual pointed finials. The moulded plank seats on turned legs united by a high twin-baluster turned front stretcher and plain rails to the sides and rear. The seat undersides having dealer/retailers trade labels for ‘Walter Carter’ Harrods Ltd. Constructed from weighty timbers, probably of North West England origin. 44” (112 cm) high, 18½” (47 cm) wide.
