Description
A Decorative Indo-Portuguese Inlaid Casket bound in forged iron straps. The dome-topped rectangular box richly decorated with inlaid mother-of-pearl and abalone flowers on meandering stems, painted with leafy green embellishments. Each end fitted with a wrought iron bifoil drop handle on a quatrefoil mount with incised decoration. The front having a hasp and iron mount cut in the form of a bird symbolising the holy spirit. The interior lined in silver fabric embroidered with scrolling flowers and edged with metallic silver lace, with painted urns of trailing foliage each end, with a blazing sunburst with IHS monogram to the lid. 10¼” (26 cm) high, 12” (30 cm) wide, 8” (20 cm) deep.
