Description
A Fine Victorian Papier-mâché Workbox inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The rectangular container having a cushion moulded lid and outswept sides raised on a serpentine base with scrolled bracket feet, richly decorated with two figures to the lid, borders in trailing garlands of flowers and foliage, with further floral sprays to the sides enhanced with inlay and gilt embellishments. The lid secured by a patent lock with key an opening to reveal a partitioned lift out tray fitted with carved mother of pearl bobbins. 6¾” (17 cm) high, 15” (38 cm) in width, 12” (30 cm) in depth.
