Description
A Fabulous Elizabethan Oak Full Tester Bed enriched with carving. The tester centred by a recessed, dentil moulded panel in a chip carved framework containing surrounding panels of carved designs. The moulded cornice ornamented with a frieze of strap-work furbished with foliate carved corbel’s, raised aloft on a finely carved headboard and imposing foot posts. The headboard composed of two frieze panels of ornamental strap-work above a gadrooned rail over two recessed arcaded panels emblazoned with flowering plants and set in deep moulded frames with carved embellishments. The muntins adorned with fine bearded atlantes and scrolled conforming figural flanking pieces either side, above a candle ledge over four plain panels to the base. The foot posts having turned fluted columns with ball knops over bulbous cup & cover swellings enriched with foliate carving; each column pegging into a bold square base section carved with ball flowers and terminating on moulded plinths with arched feet. The slatted base with purpose made mattress, 87” (221 cm) high, 67” (170 cm) wide, 87” (221 cm) in length.
