Description
A Fabulous Late 15th/Early 16th Century Boldly Carved Oak Interior Pillar. The piece of square section carved on three sides from heartwood with raised foliate lappets to the capital above a central face mask of Christ and devil masks either side, over arched corner niches displaying a Jester to one side and St Roche with dog to the other. The niched ogee arched base with traces of residual polychrome to the underside. 58¾” (149 cm) high,16” (41 cm) wide, 13” (33 cm) deep.
