Description
A Charles II Carved Oak Side Chair attributed to Derbyshire or South Yorkshire, Circa 1670. The two crescent shaped back bars enriched with chip carving, having scalloped lower edges and ornamental turned finials. The uprights adorned with turned bosses and split spindle appliqués and having lobe cut terminals carved with voluted scrolls. The planked seat in a raised frame to retain a swab cushion, standing on ball turned legs united by a high ball turned front stretcher with plain rails to the sides and rear, terminating on turned feet 40” (102 cm) high, 17½” (44.5 cm) wide, 15” (38 cm) deep.
