Description
A Long Intricately Carved Walnut Pediment, Circa 1690. The crested centre-piece pierced and carved with the figure of Prudentia depicted holding a hand mirror in one hand and writhing serpent in the other, wearing flowing robes and sat upon a cluster of flowers amongst abundant scrolls of acanthus, with two small winged cherubs either side bearing festooned garlands, 15¾” (40 cm) high, 73” (185 cm) wide.
