Description
A Fabulous 19th Century Marquetry & Parcel Gilt Table, possibly Portuguese. The piece lavishly decorated with ivory, stained bone and tortoiseshell inlay enriched with penwork details depicting a mass of opulent foliate scrolls issuing flowers, clusters of fruit and cherries, birds and animals, within rosewood geometric bands bordered in chequer stringing. The rectangular top above two frieze drawers over a central shaped apron drawer standing on tapering barley-twist legs adorned with gadrooned giltwood knops and terminating on gilded foliate carved bun feet, united by a fine shaped & inlaid under-stretcher, 30” (76 cm) high, 50” (127 cm) wide, 36” (81 cm) deep.
