The subject with luminescent skin and dark curly hair swept over one shoulder, wearing a gold gown over white blouse swathed in a scarlet-lined blue velvet drape, sat before a tasselled crimson curtain with a fluted stone column and group of peaches on a ledge to one side with landscape beyond, 49” x 39½” (125 cm x 100 cm). Set in an elaborate swept gilt frame adorned with shell motifs and sprays of scrolling flowers and foliage, 59” x 51” (150 cm x 130 cm).
