A Fine Late 17th Century Inlaid Oak Mule Chest. The planked top with moulded edge on staple hinges opening to reveal a lidded candle box to one end. The front richly carved with a lunette frieze of demi-lune flower heads flanking name ‘MARY FOOX’ above three fine panels of elaborate foliate designs; the side panels incorporating pair of stylised birds with voluted tail plumage. The framework inlaid with ornate parquetry bands, with two drawers accommodated to the base, and bun foot terminals, 32” (81 cm) high, 51” (130 cm) wide, 22” (56 cm) deep.
