A Large Late 17th/Early 18th Century Leather Clad Marriage Chest richly decorated with studded brass embellishments. The front adorned with baskets of flowers & birds and having an elaborately cast escutcheon below a ring handle on decorative mount. The slightly domed lid emblazoned with a sun burst design to the centre, initials F B flanking a heart to the back and radial fluted roundels adorning the corners. The sides fitted with carrying handles. 21” (54 cm) high, 42” (107 cm) in width, 42” (54 cm) deep.
