A German Black & White Comb Morion Helmet, Circa 1600. The iron one-piece skull rising to a high comb (with old repairs), originally roped, and embossed either side with a fleur-de-lys in low relief displayed against the blackened ground. The down-turned brim curving up to a sharp point to the fore & aft, struck with the Nuremberg mark and having a recessed turned and roped border. The base with replacement lining rivets on later lead washers, 11” (28 cm) in height. [Provenance: Acquired from P.C.L. German in 1949].
