A Late 17th/Early 18th Century Joined Oak Wainscot Chair attributed to the Lancashire/Cheshire region. The shaped cresting rail pierced in the centre above a carved strapwork band of linked S-scrolls. The plain uprights with pyramidal finials, flanking a panel back carved with a horizontal lozenge motif with a demi-lune to each side and punch-work ornamentation. The down swept scroll end arms enhanced by incised lines and resting on ring moulded columnar posts leading to a planked seat on channel moulded rails and turned legs united by peripheral stretchers, 38¾” (98 cm) high, 21” (53 cm) wide, the seat 16” (41 cm) high.
