A Small Antique Scandinavian Oval Box & Three Carved Treen Knife Handles: The oval box carved with scrolling acanthus around the exterior with feather banded borders and upswept lugs either side,2½ (6.5 cm) high, 4¼” x 2¼” (11 cm x 5.5 cm) The largest handle surmounted by a lion with swept over tail and front paws resting on a ball above a pierced cage form section and bands of decorative chip carving, 5¼” (13 cm) in length. The second also surmounted by a lion with front paws raised on a ball above bands of chip carving incorporating initials LPBM 19134” (10 cm) in length. The third intricately carved with a pelican to the top of an open cage above foliage designs and decorative bands incorporating date ANNO 1873 ?4” (10 cm) in length.
