Description
A Fine 18th Century Carved Wooden Box / Wall Cabinet. The sliding rectangular lid richly decorated with an opulent display of flowers cascading from a fluted urn and edged with moulding. The sides carved with undulant sprays of flowers and foliage and incorporating a winged angel’s head to the top side and date 1747 to the base side; the numbers entwined in voluted scrolls with punch embellishments to the recessed ground. The interior fitted with a central divide/shelf. The pine plank back bearing an old paper label inscribed; ‘Carved Old Oak Hanging Medicine Cupboard’. 4½” x 17¾” x 14¾” (11 cm x 45 cm x 37.5 cm).
