A Fabulous George IV Mahogany Breakfront Sideboard by George Simson of London (1780-1839) with a good, rich colour and patination. The single pieced top edged with ebonised stringing above a central breakfront frieze drawer over a deep recessed drawer with integrated arched ‘kneehole’ canopy, flanked by bow-front side cabinets; one with pivoting door. The piece inlaid with ebony bands bordered by cross-banding and fitted with turned wooden knop handles centred by mother-of-pearl inlay. The drawer opening to reveal the printed maker’s label to the base of the drawers; ‘George Simson Upholder Cabinet Maker & Undertaker No 19 Southside of St Pauls Grave Yard London’. Standing on six reeded legs tapering down to turned vasiform feet. 36” (91.5 cm) high, 72” (183 cm) wide, 26” (66 cm) deep.
