Description
A Fine George II Style Carved & Gessoed Giltwood Wall Mirror, 19th Century. The rectangular glass set in a moulded frame with re-entrant upper corners, decorated with scrolls of foliage and crosshatching. The frame having a fine scrolling pediment and base piece crested with a fanned shell motif to the top, flanked by gadrooned ‘wings’ adorned with sprays of acanthus and trailing flowers. The base carved with a scallop shell between undulating foliate sprays and voluted scrolls either side. 44” (112 cm) high, 23” (59 cm) wide.
