Description
A Pretty Sheraton Revival Painted Satinwood Lady’s Writing Desk. The top having a tooled leather insert and ebony strung edges with a raised bank of small drawers inlaid with chequer stringing and flanked by small bow front cupboards. The drawers set in three rows of three, the cupboard doors painted with urns of flowers. The frieze housing a long drawer decorated with painted swags of flowers on fine ripple grained ground bordered with king-wood cross-banding edged with strings of ebony and boxwood. The turned legs entwined by painted trails of forget-me-nots on out-swept tapering feet, united by a crinoline stretcher connecting side and rear rails with a fanned patera demi-lune adornment to the centre back, 36” (91 cm) high, 28½” (72.5 cm) wide, 17” (43 cm) deep.
