A 17th Century Polychrome Painted Folk Art Love-Token Writing Casket. The rectangular box of boarded construction having a hinged fall front lid and iron swing handles either side, elaborately painted with floral blooms, clasped hands above hearts amongst scrolling foliage on a green ground framed by banded borders. The front fitted with a lock & key; the lock-plate cut & engraved as a pair of opposing profiled heads. The interior housing pigeon holes, drawers and a central arch topped cupboard similarly decorated. 10” (25.5 cm) high, 13¾” (35 cm) wide, 9” (23 cm) deep.
