A 17th/Early 18th Century Boarded Oak Desk Box. The planked lid with iron strap hinges opening to reveal a lidded candle box to one end. The front board with engrailed sides, carved with scrolling strapwork defined against a recessed pitted ground incorporating stylised foliate S-scrolls flanking the iron hasp & lock plate above a row of interlinked C-scrolls crested with trefoils. The base with applied chip-carved moulding. 10½” (26.5 cm) high, 27½” (70 cm) wide, 14½” (37 cm) deep.
