Description
A Late 19th Century Sheraton Revival Painted Satinwood Work Box/Table. The hinged oval lid centred by a painted medallion depicting a lady reclining in landscape edged with a string of pearls and bordered with a chain of roses. The upright sides painted with further portrait medallions to the front and back, suspended from blue ribbon swagged with rose garlands in-between. The top opening to reveal a lift out partitioned tray above a perished fabric bag of pleated silk standing on square tapering legs with out-swept feet, united by a shaped under-shelf decorated with pendant bell-flowers and roses, 28½” (72 cm) high, 15¼” (38.5 cm) wide, 12” (30.5 cm) deep.
