A Good, Early 17th Century English Oak Coffer, Circa 1600-1620 of fine colour & patination. The twin panelled top attached by original iron butterfly hinges. The carved front having a nulled frieze rail above two panels carved with gadrooned bands forming lozenges within rectangles, flanked by stop fluted stiles and broad central muntin, with recessed reeds rising up the flutes. The sides composed of lozenge carved twin panels. Standing on stile supports 25” (64 cm) high, 37½” (95 cm) wide, 20¾” (55 cm) in depth. [Had been in the ownership of several generations of the same family from Skeynes Farm on the Surrey/Kent border].
