Description
A 17th Century Carved Oak Box of rectangular form. The plank lid on iron staple hinges, gauge carved with decorative roundels and incised wriggle worm bands to the chip carved sides, with run moulding to the front and back. The sides having further gouge carving, the front fitted with a shaped escutcheon with strap hasp. The interior lined in marbled paper, 8” (20 cm) high, 13” (33 cm) wide, 7½” (19 cm) deep.*
