A Fabulous 19th Century French Ormolu & Bronze Figural Clock Garniture Set by Charpentier à Paris. The clock having a 4¼” (10 cm) diameter white enamel dial signed Charpenier & Cie Bronzier Paris Rue Charlot 8, with a ring of blue Roman numeral hour markers and black outer Arabic five minute track. The movement striking a bell with Charpentier stamped to the back-plate, set in an elaborate gilded oval casing festooned with flowers, berries & foliage, and surmounted by a pair of brown patinated bronze cherubs modelled as ‘Deux amours se disputant un coeur’ (Cupids wrestling over a heart) after Étienne-Maurice Falconet (1716-1791). 23¾” (60 cm) high, 19½” (50 cm) wide, 12½” (32 cm) deep. The accompanying seven-light candelabra having candle nozzles incorporated into lavish displays of gilded lilies, roses & chrysanthemums held aloft upon the heads of brown patinated putti standing on decorative gilt plinths, 35½” (90 cm) high.
