An Imposing Joined Oak Wainscot Chair in the 17th century Lancashire style, of similar design to an examples featured in Victor Chinnery’s book; ‘Oak Furniture The British Tradition’ fig. 4:54 and 4:55 Page 441. The top rail emblazoned with a pair of scrolling dragons with barbed tonges, chip carved scales and coiled tails, flanking a small rebate carved 62 RB to the centre. The panelled back featuring S-scroll creatures to the twin top panels flanked by scrolling zoological spandrels. The stepped, two tiered arms on turned baluster posts and ball knopped end supports leading down to the plank seat. Standing on rear stiles and baluster turned front legs united by peripheral stretchers with two turned uprights to the front, 48½” (123 cm) high, 24½” (62 cm) wide.
