A Pair of 17th Century Carved Oak Back Stools, attributed to Yorkshire/Derbyshire. The two scalloped crescent-shaped back bars each carved with a central face mask emitting long, scrolling tresses of hair outswept either side, with cross-hatched embellishments and turned pendant finials. The uprights adorned with split spindle appliqués and having lobe-cut terminals. The plank seat on turned legs united by a high ball knopped front rail and plain rails to the sides and rear, 40” (102 cm) high, 18” (46 cm) in width.
