Description
A Large & Impressive 17th Century Style Panelled Oak Coffer enriched with carving. The five lid panels and twin end panels set in channel-moulded frames. The facade profusely decorated with a frieze of interlinked foliate crested C-scrolls, three upper horizontal panels of leafy S-scrolls featuring initials MS and date 1686 to the centre, and five vertical base panels emblazoned with flowering plants issuing fanned blooms beneath moulded arches. The rails and stiles carved with undulating vines, with tulip headed palmate carving to the muntins. 34” (87 cm) high, 69¾” (177 cm) wide, 24½” (62 cm) deep.
