A 19th Century Figure Walnut & Marquetry Kidney Shaped Writing Desk. The top having a dark green leather insert enriched with gilt embellishments to the edge, in a sweeping surrounds cross-banded with king-wood edged in stringing and inlaid with cornucopia issuing fruit & flowers either side with a floral spray to the back, edged with gilt brass trim. The frieze housing a central drawer raised on cabriole legs edged with cross-banded inlay and adorned with ornate gilt bronze mounts, 29½” (75 cm) high, 46” (117 cm) wide, 22” (56 cm) deep at the centre.
