A 17th Century English Carved Oak Back Stool, attributed to Yorkshire, Circa 1675 (A/F). The two scalloped dome-topped back bars carved with naive face masks with flamboyant scrolls of out swept hair either side, enriched with punchwork and cross-hatching. The uprights with inward scrolls lobe terminals, leading down to a planked seat in a raised frame to retain a swab cushion, standing on turned legs, shortened in height, united by a turned front stretcher with plain rails to the sides and rear, 38½” (98 cm) high, 17¾” (45 cm) wide.
