Description
A Fine 19th Century Marquetry Bureau Bookcase in the 18th century style. The twin dome-topped upper section having an elaborately moulded cornice enriched with decorative inlaid bands above two glazed arch-topped doors with moulded borders and marquetried flowers trailing around the frames. The doors enclosing shelves; the two lower two having grooves for vertical partitions, above three shallow drawers and candle slides below. The base section housing a sloped fall front on loper supports enclosing a fitted interior with frieze chamber above two short over two long drawers on bracket feet. The whole elaborately inlaid with foliate scrolls & trailing flowers; birds perched amongst flowers cascading from urns to the fall front and elaborate floral displays within ovals bands of stringing to the sides. 84” (213 cm) high, 38” (97 cm) wide, 23” (59 cm) deep.
