Two Late 18th/Early 19th Century Comb-back Windsor Armchairs. One of yew-wood with a long central slat to the back and splayed side slats flanking stick spindles in between, pierced through the arm bow with two further splayed spindles leading down to a wedge projection to the rear of the elm seat, stamped I. SMITH, standing on cabriole legs united by a turned H-form stretcher, 35½” (90 cm) high, 23” (59 cm) wide. The other having upturned lobe terminals to the top rail above eight long stick spindles piercing through the three part arm bow and leading down to the elm seat on turned legs united by an H-form stretcher. 38½” (98 cm) high, 24” (61 cm) wide.
