A Victorian Rosewood Sewing Box on Stand. The rectangular box with tapered sides and a scalloped base edge. The lid in two halves hinged at the sides and opening out to reveal a crimson silk lined box compartment with a padded base and pin cushion panels to the flaps buttoned with small blue silk studs and edged in blue cord. The turned carrying handle on fretted pivoting side mounts. Standing on slender knopped baluster legs leading down to a galleried undershelf with pierced rails to the sides, 34” (86 cm) high [handle up], 14½” x 11” (37 cm x 28 cm).
