An Early 17th Century Mechelen Alabaster Plaque carved in relief and embellished with gilding. The biblical scene representing Christ resurrected as a Gardener holding a spade in one hand with the other raised in blessing above the figure of Mary Magdalene knelt before him, her hands held in prayer with a pot of ointment before her. The empty tomb behind attended by two angels, 6½” x 5” (16.5 cm x 13 cm). Set in a decorative frame relief moulded with gilded fruit garlands displayed against a painted band within moulded gilt borders, 10¼” x 8¾” (26 cm x 12.5 cm).
