Description
A Late 18th/Early 19th Century Treen Bowl, probably yew, with straight sloping sides and double turned moulding beneath the rim, the stepped circular base with turned concaved underside, an open crack rising from the base to the top of the rim issuing from a ‘knot’ in the base of the bowl, 4¼” (11 cm) high, 4?” (12.3 cm) in diameter. Together with a fine Georgian mahogany or fruitwood spherical sweetmeat bowl and cover, each part with a moulded rim, raised on a shallow domed circular foot with green baize to the underside, the tightly-fitting cover having a turned acorn finial, 7?” (18 cm) in height.
