Description
A 16th Century Oak Planked Coffer. The lid on stapled hinges, incised with zig-zag bands to the chip carved ends and having a run moulded front edge fitted with a looped iron padlock hasp. The front board enriched with linen-fold carving in three reserves divided by vertical bands of incised zig-zagging and flanked by engrailed ends. Standing on supporting end borders with buttressed feet, 20” (51 cm) high, 48” (122 cm) wide, 16” (41 cm) deep.
