A Large 18th Century Oyster Veneered Box. The hinged rectangular lid with mounded edge clad in fine walnut ‘oyster’ figured veneers with an oval panel framed by rosewood cross-banding to the centre and quadrant features to the corners framed by cross-wood border. The front with further oyster veneers and a decorative cast escutcheon, the sides clad in rosewood, 5” (13 cm) high, 20½” (52 cm) wide, 15½” (39 cm) deep.
