A 16th/Early 17th Century Painted Wrought Iron Coffret in the form of an Armada chest. The rectangular box bound in iron straps and ornamented with quatrefoil studs. The front painted with a man & wife either side of a faux lock. The sides and back painted with flowers & foliage and fitted with loop handles on quatrefoil mounts either end. The lid centred by a key hole concealed with a pivoting quatrefoil cover and operating a sprung locking mechanism to the interior with decoratively engraved steel components, 4½” (11.5 cm) high, 9” (23 cm) wide, 4¾” (12 cm) deep.*
