Description
A 17th Century Iron Strong Box. The rectangular chest clad in studded, interwoven straps incorporating an ornamental escutcheon for a faux lock to the front flanked by padlock hasps, with a sliding flap concealing a keyhole with key to the top. The lid rising to reveal a sprung locking mechanism behind a pierced sheet metal guard engraved with two griffins. The sides fitted with carrying handles. 13½ ins (34 cm) high, 22 ins (56 cm) wide, 14 ins (36 cm) deep.
