Description
A Large Late 18th/Early 19th Century Carved Colonial Marriage Chest. The lid, front and sides boldly carved with lavish scrolls of foliage: The front incorporating a pair of armorial crests either side of a pair of seated griffins below a grotesque face mask escutcheon with keyhole to the gaping mouth. Standing on lion paw feet, 34½” (88 cm) high, 55” (140 cm) wide, 29” (74 cm) deep.
