Two 19th Century French Fauteuil Armchairs in the Louis XIV Style. Both of generous proportions with rectangular upholstered backs and seats covered in calico. One having moulded down-swept arms with voluted terminals enriched with sprays of acanthus and scrolling legs united by a wavy H-form stretcher, 44½” (113 cm) high, 25” (64 cm) wide. The other slightly taller with large brass studs to the borders and a sprung seat, the down-swept arms carved with satanic face masks and sprays of acanthus to the coiled terminals, the moulded scroll end legs united by an undulating H-form stretcher, 48½” (123 cm) high, 25” (64 cm) wide.
