A Highly Decorative & Unusual 19th Century Carved Wooden Mantel Shelf Ornament featuring a recessed oval vignette niche carved in relief with an interior scene depicting two figures sat in chairs before a fire in a paneled room. The rectangular slab surround elaborately decorated with motifs and beading, surmounted by a figural pediment carved with two cherubs holding a cartouche. The slab flanked by ornate multi-tiered columns enriched with stop fluting and carved face masks raised on ogee legged pediments above a rectangular plinth base, 13” (33 cm) in height, 8” (20 cm) wide, 2¾” (7 cm) deep.*
