The 9½” (24 cm) long octagonal damascened steel barrels inscribed along the top FORSYTH & CO PATENT GUN MAKERS LONDON above a walnut half stock with ram rod and crosshatched butt. The lockplates & trigger guards intricately engraved with scrolling foliage and signed again on the lockplate FORSYTH & Co PATENT. The hammers engraved as dolphins. The pair housed in a fitted velvet lined oak case with paper maker’s labels; ‘Wilson & Co Late Wm Wilson Established 1817, 71 George Street Edinburgh’
