A Fine Late 17th Century Carved Walnut Armchair with caned back & seat. The oval cane-work back panel in a pierced frame carved with undulating flowers & foliage beneath an elaborate cresting rail centred by a pair of cherubs holding a crown between them. The barley-twist uprights surmounted by ball & cup finials. The down-swept arms having carved rosettes to the the scroll terminals and decorative sprays of acanthus laced with chains of flowers. The caned seat standing on barley twist legs with similarly turned H-form stretcher and an open carved rail to the front, 48½” (123 cm) high, 24” (61 cm) wide.
