A Rare 18th Century Portugese Marquetry Desk Box inlaid all over with Mother-of-pearl, bone and tortoiseshell veneers with panels of stylised flowers and foliage framed by decorative bands. The base with applied ripple moulding raised on ebonised squat bun feet. The lid rising to reveal further inlay in penworked bone bands to the underside, with a partitioned compartment to the front, 6” (15 cm) high, 14” (36 cm) wide.
