Description
A Large 17th Century Oak Coffer. The twin plank lid with moulded edge and iron loop hinged opening to reveal an open trough to one end on the interior. The triple panel facade richly carved with twinned S-scrolls of reeded bands incorporating wrythen whorls defined against a nail-pitted ground to the panels, rows of cinq-foil flower heads entwined in guilloche plaits to the frieze rail, muntins & stiles, and lunettes to the base rail, 34” (86.5 cm) high, 57” (145 cm) wide, 25” (64 cm) deep.
