A 17th Century Spanish or Italian Walnut Coffret/Strong Box. The lid on iron loop hinges opening to reveal rebates for internal partitions (now missing). The intricate through dovetail jointed box fitted with iron swing handles to the sides and an inset central lock-plate radiating ornamental pierced roundels from the corners to the front, flanked by oval escutcheons, 13½” (34 cm) high, 28” (71 cm) wide, 16½” (42 cm) deep.
