A Small Carved Hardwood Folding Stool, Circa 1900 with paper maker’s label; ‘Made by Jubbar Khan & Son State wood carvers and papier-mache makers 3rd Bridge Srinagar Kashmir’. The rectangular top with a shaped cartouche to the centre amidst scrolling dragons and auspicious shou symbols defined against a pitted ground edged in faux bamboo beading. The box form frieze ornamented with scrolling dragonesque creatures, flower heads, bats and lucky symbols , housing three hinged panels folding out to support the top; each pierced with a mirhab and enriched with carving, 4¼” (11 cm) high unfolding to 12” (30.5 cm) in height, 15” (38 cm) wide, 11 (29 cm) deep.
